Win 7 Hal.dll missing

I am getting error message that hal.dll is missing .Found info on net about how to restore it to an XP installation .But I can't find it on Windows 7 DVD .
Does anyone no how to fix .THANKS

It is really nice, between the Start Menu, Quick Launch (I put it back) and the new Taskbar, to have a Desktop, that aside from Gadgets & Sticky Notes, is Icon Free
