    i have a question,
    i am using winXP SP3,with 1GB Ram,should i change my NtfsMemoryUSage and SystemCache from there default values to the ones described above.I m planning to buy 1GB more RAM,making total RAM 2GB,then what values at MemoryUsage and System cache should i use.

    I dont use very memory consuming programs.

    thanks

    Thanks... it's not easy to write all this up... it's not just some stuff I copied and pasted from a web site. You are the first to show appreciation. I wish I had a gold star to reward you with.

    Try this.. click "Start" and type "mon" and press enter.. it will open resources monitor. Go to memory let the chart run a bit then press winkey + R and paste the command, press enter... and note the bahavior of the chart. It's optimizing my memore ... not a lot but some.

    Most of my blogs are my notes.. for more info you probably need to google.

    The registry entry for "change the maximum number of simultaneous downloads" listed above is incorrect. There are 2 typos in it (there should be no space between Current and Version, but there should be one between Internet and Settings). Also setting the value to "10" is hexidecimal 10 which is really 16 decimal. The entry should be set to "a" which is 10 in decimal. Below is the correct entry.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
    "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:0000000a
    "MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:0000000a

    When I go to edit it .. the space is not there. I've tried to fix it several times.. When you look now it's exactly as copied and pasted from your example above.

    WOW...I see what you mean.....I just tried to edit mine which displays the space between Current and Version and in "edit mode" it removes the space. And of course it's word-wrapping "Internet Settings" so it's unclear if there is a space there as well.

    Bug in the blogging software? Maybe best to post a .TXT file that can then be changed to .REG by anyone downloading it?

    But yours was correct yesterday. There was no space there. That's why I copied and pasted it to the original. Oh well... I guess people can still download 6 files at a time unless they realize they have to edit it to make it work.

    you have to use code and /code surrounded by brackets to fix the bug... what appparently happens is there are a limited numbers of characters allowed per line without a space. Registry paths often have no spaces - except toward the end, past the limit.
