Re: Frequent BSOD since reinstalling Windows 7 while browsing internet

I don't recall seeing the mobo model - but I could have missed it. Thanks for providing it!

No sign of AsIoUp.sys at the Asus website for your mobo - so I suspect that it's been done away with. Let's ignore it for now (but I have a plan to remove it later, if needed). If you want to reinstall Asus Update, feel free to do so.

EVGA Precision is still installed, please uninstall it.
I suspect Rainmeter also - but haven't seen any signs of it, so it's just a guess on my part.

Re: Frequent BSOD since reinstalling Windows 7 while browsing internet

Ok, I've uninstalled both Precision and Rainmeter but then the system suffered a series of crashes just five minutes later. However no new dumps have been created .

Also I'd like to mention that I've had the system crash and freeze in the BIOS, i.e. before windows even launches so I started to suspect the RAM.

As you know I have four sticks with 9-9-9-24 ratings yet when i went in the BIOS it had setting of 8-8-8-20 as if it's trying to overclock them without my knowledge. Consequently I've manually set the timings to 9-9-9-24 at 1600Mhz. After doing this my pc seems a little more stable and now starts up everytime after a crash without fail which is a big improvement. It actually ran crash free all day yesterday for the first time in months but as I mentioned got hit again today. Any further advice??

    Thanks
    Josh

Try the free hardware diagnostics here: Hardware Diagnostics
I'd concentrate on the stress tests (Prime95, video, and CPU)
With Prime95, try the 3 different tests (Blend, Small FFT's, and large FFT's)

You may want to try a quick installation of Windows (without activating it) on a platter based hard drive.

Although you had issues before the SSD, it's possible that the SSD has added to the problems - or it's possible that the original problem was solved and the SSD is a separate problem. Regardless, that's something that has a history of problems across the web - so it deserves to be tested even though it may not be likely.

Re: Frequent BSOD since reinstalling Windows 7 while browsing internet

Sorry for not replying for a while I am currently in the process of wiping all my drives and starting a fresh so I will get back when that is done to report the progress or lack of.

Edit: OK I've started fresh with a new install and not to speak too soon but so far so good.

Thanks for all your help and I'll definitely be coming back here for advice in the future. Fingers Crossed haha

P.S. The small power socket on the motherboard felt a bit loose so I pushed that back to the board so it was snug. I'm not sure if that was what was causing the problem but considering the symptoms were pointing towards hardware i wouldn't be surprised.
