Just upgraded, temps a little high?

Just upgraded, and saw my temps were a little high... thoughts?

Operating System - MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM - 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz (5-5-5-18)
Motherboard - EVGA 122-CK-NF68
Graphics - 1023MB GeForce GTX 560 Ti

This is all idle.

I don't see a CPU fan listed at all and 124* F is kind of high for my taste. Although I not sure what the temp tolerance is for that particular CPU. When converted to C it's right at 51.111C, which is running about 20 degrees hotter than mine.

100C is the TJMax but you will lose stability at 80C for the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. It could be anything from case airflow (common), to using a stock heatsink and fan. Typically modders/system builders will want to replace the stock Intel heatsink and fan with Arctic Silver thermal compound and a professional heatsink/fan. This is not necessarily required however, as you are around 46.1C on idle. Try to determine your temp at max load using prime95 and see if you go near 70C or 80. If you do, you need to start looking at it as a serious problem.

I'd be grabbing some decent thermal compound and reseating the HSF to see if that helps. Also check the cases airflow
