This video, the first in a series of interviews with the MongoDB experts at 10gen, provides an overview of the core concepts behind MongoDB, the popular noSQL document-oriented database. Jared Rosoff covers the basics of Mongo and then explains the purpose and architecture of MongoDB replica sets (for scalable read operations) as well as MongoDB's approach to sharding (for scalable write operations).
Future videos in this series will cover the C#/.NET driver that 10gen has shipped for MongoDB, details of how to design and deploy replica sets, and various options for using MongoDB on Windows Azure.
