Llano APU that is
Llano Fusion chip might be the first chip to support USB 3.0 at least from the AMD side. It is quite clear that mid-2010 Southbridge SB850 supports only USB 2.0 and it will take at least a year to get the new one out, the one that might support USB 3.0.
AMD didn’t communicate this outside the company, at least not to many people but we found that Hudson M2, the Southbridge of Llano APU indeed supports USB 3.0.
The chipset can support a whopping 16 USB ports as well as 6 SATA ports, Raid, 4 PCIe slots and an integrated clock generator. This chipset is likely to be the same for both mobile and desktop versions of Llano.
It looks like 2011 will be a good year for wide USB 3.0 penetration, but until then you will have high end motherboards, most likely some new notebooks as well with USB support courtesy of third party USB 3.0 chips.
It is not known when SB850 get its replacement as it looks like AMD 890FX as well as 890GX chipsets with SB850 Southbridge might be able to take care of Bulldozer CPUs. Only time will tell.
