Call of Duty 2 not working

Initially it wouldn't install, off the autorun or from the setup.exe. Adding XP SP2 compatability to the Setup worked and it installed fine but now I can't get it running, in comp mode or not. Gets past the splash screen just about, after a few seconds of black screen it ctd and the close/search online for solution window comes up. Any help much appreciated, trying to restart our house CoD2 lan nights =/

Try plugging something in the microphone jack. I read about the issue in a cod4 forum. It worked for a friend of mine. The game worked with his headset and mic plugged in, but the next time he went to play it he got the same error as you. He wasn't using his headset. He just plugged an old headset into his mic jack and it loaded fine.

Also disable security software before the installation process.
