External display native resolution of 1920x1080 disappeared
Hi,
I'm using a laptop (Compaq 6910p using Intel Express 965 chipset graphics) and connecting a Samsung 1080p tv as an external display.
Using Output to projector only (Win-P) I have been able to run the external Samsung TV at it's native 1080p (1920x1080) resolution.
However since downloading a Windows Update my Windows 7 screen resolution options for this external Samsung 1080p display have been limited to 1920x1440, 1792x1344, 1280x1024, etc.
I.e. the native resolution of the external display (1920x1080) has disappeared.
Things I have already tried:
-Uninstall and reinstall graphics driver from Intel and from HP.
-Trying to select the native resolution under "List All Modes" under the graphics adapter advanced settings. (1920x1080 it isn't there).
-System restore is not an option (turned off).
My question is very simple.
Does any expert know how to force a resolution on an external display in Windows 7 using group policy editor, gpedit.msc, display driver .ini, registry hacking, or any other method?
Thank you
