Active Recovery Partition

Toshiba Laptop with Win 7. 64gb SSD. 28gb used. 26gb free.

I have a 4.9gb Active Recovery Partition.

What is it?
Do I need it if I back up to a HDD using EaseUS ToDo and a docking station?

That should be explained in the literature that came with the computer. But my guess is it holds a Windows image used to restore the system to a factory condition. If the partition is active, it probably contains the boot files for Windows as well.

If you have another method to restore your system, you may not need it. But I would probably back it up, for safety.

Have you made the recovery CDs or DVD, if you have that option?

I have a set of recovery discs plus the original 500gb HDD.

The last laptop I have used was a Dell, and I wiped the hard drive and installed Windows 7. I wish I could help on OEM situations, but they are all different, and you should have the info you need from your user paperwork.

Yes, that partition should be backed up (imaged) with the rest of the HDD. I always create a 2nd backup of the recovery partition alone, just in case I need it.

During reboot i didn't took the backup of the data which was saved in desktop, and all gets deleted. Is it possible to recover those data?
