connecting windows 7 and vista in home network

It looks like I'm almost there but I'm missing some setting. The computers can see each other, but I can't actually access one from the other. when I try to access the vista computer from the 7 computer, I click on it and it just goes to a blank page. With Vista I can access the d drive on the 7 computer and all its contents, but not the c drive. When I try to access the c drive I get a permissions error. I have all permissions set to everybody, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

    Vista computer HP Pavilion w/amd
    windows 7 computer emachines w/amd

I guess I'm showing my newbie colors. It turns out the permissions were turned off on the vista machine and the c drive on the windows 7 machine. everyone is communicating fine now!!
