XP, Vista, Win7 network confusion
I realize there are a number of XP/7 networking threads. I'm not seeing in any of them the specific situation I have so I'm starting antoher.
This is an existing wireless network, with three XP machines and one Vista machine. All connect and share just fine.
I'm adding one Win7 machine.
Win7 is connected to the network, viewing internet.
But Win7 network only shows the Win7 and Vista machines.
XP sees the Win7 machine in view workgroup computers. get error when try to connect: the server could not be found on this network
XP does not see Win7 in MyNetworkPlaces
Win7 does not see XP machine anywhere.
Win7 sees the Vista machine.
Vista sees the Win7. Error: windows confirmed Win7 is online but is not responding. Usually firewall issue.
Win7 can ping XP machine's IP.
XP can ping Win7 machine's IP.
turning off zonealarm on Win7 results in:
XP sees Win7, can view files. transferred file to Win7 machine.
Win7 machine received file from XP. still cannot see XP machines in Network.
Vista sees Win7, can view files.
I'm guessing I have two issues - one is the settings in ZoneAlarm to allow sharing. The other is having Win7 recognize the XP machines.
Any assistance with either would be appreciated.
