    DNS server not responding?

    Hello

I have a router which is connected to a desktop (not wireless) and a laptop which is connected wireless.
On my laptop, i have internet, i have connections, i can browse the internet, but my computer says this :

Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.

when i connect to the wireless internet, my laptop seems to be connecting, but taking longer than usual.

    How do i fix this?

i have flushed the dns cache, and disabled IPv6

    Re: DNS server not responding?

When connected through a router (either wired or wirelessly) the DNS server address should be set to the router address. This should be done automatically if dns server address setting are set to automatic for each of the adapters concerned. You can check the dns server address for each of them by going to command prompt and enntering:

    ipconfig /all

If you would like any help interpreting the output please post the report on here.

    Re: DNS server not responding?

The DNS server address on your wireless connection is causing the problem:

    DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.201.245.77

It should be set to 192.168.1.1 (the address of your router - the router will then forward dns requests to the real dns server address from your service provider). You can either change this manually or (if the is no special reason for having manual settings) you could change the wireless adapter to obtain all addresses (IP address and dns server address) automatically.

Best thing to do is to set the various addresses to be assigned automatically then you can forget it. Go to control panel, network and sharing centre, change adapter settings, right click on wireless connection. Single click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click on properties. Select the options: "obtain an ip address automatically" and also "obtain dns server address automatically". Click on ok, chain back out and reboot.
