Re: network connected but no internet access on att Uverse

Hello and welcome to the forum.
First you will likely want to confirm that the problem is not with the wireless adapter in your Dell. Test at a local hotspot or coffeeshop, McDonalds, etc., Just to make sure that the adapter didn't coincidentally shoot craps.
Once you are certain that the problem is not with your Dell then you'll need to experiment with your network appliances. May as well start with your router... make sure that you turn off any MAC or IP filtering, set the encryption to none or open temporarily for testing, change the channel to something as far from the one you are using currently as possible and then experiment further by switching to (1, 3, 6, 9, 11).
Open a command prompt and type
    ipconfig /all > desktop\ipconfig.txt
This will put a text file on your desktop, attach it to your next post.
    Regards
    Randy

    I wouldn't expect so.
Unless of course your TVs are wireless also and even then I would expect them to automatically detect the channel change and the SSID Broadcast and connect as before. I am only talking about changing the channel on your wireless Router which I assumed, maybe mistakenly that if was separate from the ATT device provided by your Internet Service Provider. Documentation that may have accompanied either or both devices should prove helpful as well.

Re: network connected but no internet access on att Uverse

On the machine that is not working, open another command prompt and type
    ipconfig /release
    and hit enter
    and then type
    ipconfig /renew
    and hit enter.
The IP addressing scheme that the problem Windows 7 is using is completely different (subnet, default gateway, and DNS server address) the only thing that the Windows 7 machine that is not working properly and the Windows Vista machine that you report is working properly have in common is the DHCP server address, so I can only assume that for some reason, even though the DHCP lease expiry time has passed, it has not released the old DHCP leased address.
    Then do another
    ipconfig /all
from another command prompt and determine if the two machines are now on the same subnet.
The Windows 7 machine should be getting a 192.168.1.###, with a 255.255.255.0 subnet mask, a default gateway of 192.168.1.254 and a DNS server address of 192.168.1.254
Let me know how it turns out.

Re: network connected but no internet access on att Uverse

Not to sure what is going on. The Vista machine is behaving as it should be, acquiring a private reserved address from the 2wire Router. And the Windows 7 machine is for some reason using a public addressable IP addressing scheme which would seem to be coming from the same source 192.168.1.254.
Is it at all possible that a second 2wire Router is present and in close proximity to the Windows 7 machine. Perhaps left over for some reason from a previous ATT installation?
Or is it possible that the ATT Technician installed some software on the Windows 7 machine that is not present on the Vista machine that he may have used during the initial setup and configuration either at your new location or at your previous location before the move?
Both machines are showing DHCP Enabled and Auto Configuration Enable for both the wireless adapters they are using, so I'm not sure how the IP addressing scheme could be so different unless there is a second wireless router on the network or unless there is some software running on the Windows 7 machine that is causing the issue.
Could you perhaps start the Windows 7 machine in safe mode by tapping the F8 key during POST (while the machine is starting up) and see if the problem persists?

OK, let's try this the hard way one time and see what happens.
On the problem Windows 7 Computer
Click the start orb and type
    ncpa.cpl
    hit enter
in the resultant window, select then right click your wireless adapter and choose properties
in the properties dialog box scroll as needed, uncheck the box that says "Internet Protocol Version 6"
select (highlight) Internet Protocol Version 4 and click the properties button
In the IPv4 Properties dialog box select the radio button that says "Use the following IP address:" and populate the three boxes as follows
    IP address: 192.168.1.222
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 (should auto-populate upon hitting the tab key)
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    Then select the radio button that says "Use the following DNS server addresses: and populate the boxes as follows;
    Preferred DNS server: 192.168.1.254
    Alternate DNS server: 8.8.8.8
OK you way all the way back out of there and see what happens.
To reverse what you've just done, just reset both radio buttons to Obtain ........ automatically and recheck the IPv6 checkbox.
    Keep us posted.
