DNS SERVER NOT RESPONDING PROBLEM?

I allowed some automatic updates onto my computer last weekend. Internet worked fine for a few days and then nothing with the error DNS server not responding. I had a more computer literate friend look at it and he said that everything looked like it was working fine other than this error....my computer says all this junk: (makes not much sense to me) I would really really appreciate any help. I should also say its a laptop im using and its a LAN connection not wireless
