Hide Fonts surprisingly does not carry forward to Office 2010

The font list in office programs is very lengthy. So, following instructions I used the HIDE option in the Font Control Panel to hide many of the fonts I do not use. I would have imagined that Microsoft divisions, like Office, would operate with the user's actions in the Control Panel. Apparently not. All show anyway. Suggestions?
