Windows 7 wont recognize my monitor

Hello

Ive had this problem since the last windows 7 update that the OS wont recognize my screen, it is listed as a "generic non-pnp monitor" in the "screen resolution" interface, ive found different threads describing this issue on Vista and how to deal with it:

But none of these solutions has worked for me so far. im basically at my wits end. Ive tried uninstalling my former RC edition and installing an ultimate edition i got from my schools MSDN network. Ive been uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for the last few hours, but i havnt found any solutions. Is any able to help me.

If this issue has been solved in another thread, then please link me to it, i havnt been able to find it via the search.

i forgot to write about the problem itself appereantly >_<

my monitor will only run low resolution, 1024x720 and below, whereas the native resolution is 1680x1050, until last night i was able to.
