    Microsoft .NET Framework Unhandled exception....

    I am running windows 7 ultimate build 7600 and I get this error on startup every time, I think it is coming from Outlook as it pops up right before the login window for my password for exchange comes up.

    Here are the details.

    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    If it's the same as me, then it's caused by a virus/trojan/backdoor/adware/spyware. Whatever it is called you do not need or want it on your computer. To check, look in Task Manager at the running processes. If there is one called alg.exe with a description of CPAX20, you have the same as me.

    Look for a file called alg.exe in C:\program files\common files and check the details in properties (do not use search to find the file as this will find the REAL alg.exe which is part of Windows and lives in the system folders). If these details mention CPAX20 and the company sornsoft (search for them and you will see what sort of company they are!), you need to get rid of the file.

    The easiest way is to end the process alg.exe in task manager and then simply delete it. If it does not let you, make sure you are running as an adminstrator with User Account Control turned off (don't know if any of that is necessary but that is how I run in order to stop being nagged by Microsoft). If it still does not let you, you will have to search the internet for solutions on clean booting etc.

    Whatever, keep going until you get rid of it. I am not sure it is particularly harmful, but it is best to be sure. Just make sure you do not delete the REAL alg.exe by mistake. That file's details say it is from Microsoft and is something to do with "Application Layer Gateway" whatever the bejesus that is.
