    EXE's opening in cmd

Whenever I try to open something with a .exe file extension, it always opens a window in command prompt, I have tried using regedit to try and make .exe's run in exefile but it hasn't done anything.

    Please help,

    Collin

Paste this into Notepad and save as exefix.reg. You'll need to use the drop-down menu and choose All Files ad manually type in the three letter extension.reg.

Also save the file in ANSI format.

Double-click on the file to restore the association.

This can also be a sign of a virus......Have you performed a complete scan of your hard drive lately?

    Reghakr,

I have done all of that and restarted my computer but still whenever I try to open a program, it opens a command prompt window. I have checked for viruses but According to Microsoft Security Essentials, there are no problems.

The message I got when I double-clicked the registry file was: The keys and values contained in: C:\Users\Collin\Documents\Exefix.reg have been succesfully added to the registry. I will now try the new registry codes you gave me and I will get back to you after I restart my computer.

I have restarted my computer after adding those two files to the registry, unfortunately. Files with the .exe file extension are still opening Command Prompt cd'd to the folder the exe is located in.
