Error code 80040154 when checking for updates!

I recently built a new desktop and installed a fresh OS on a clean hard drive. Things seemed to be going fine but now it seems I'm having some problems.

When I try and update Windows 7 manually I get an error code 80040154 and a note saying the system was unable to check for updates. When it was first installed I was able to update the OS with no problems. Any idea where I should start?
