    what causes the 'USB no recognised"

    it worked fine before
    it is the one in the actual computer- not a hub.

    I have not tried this myself, but I noticed, in the Device Manager, if you look at the properties for the USB Hubs, there is a Reset Hub option on the Advanced tab.

    You will have to find the correct one, but it may help.

    Have you tried plugging the device into another port?

    yes thanks - it worked in other ones.
    then the computer died to blue screen.
    so i unplugged some things unplugged the computer - as directed!
    so it is okay.
