Great idea since the VAIO is known for getting hot at the bottom. I downloaded CPUID to check the temps, and at the same time Avira was running a scan and was at windows files, almost done. Then when I gave CPUID the permission to take a look on my hardware so it could start monitoring, I got a new bluescreen. Attached you find the minidump and the BlueScreenView file.

EDIT:
Here we go again, another BSOD. Happened after looking 2sec on my temps with CPUID. BSV and original minidump zipped here:

I suggest you give your computer a good "housewife vacuum cleaner" treatment. Don't give it a shower or bath, though.![]()
Your two most recent Dump files (060712-31902-01 and 060712-64272-01) show no evidence that the drivers for your memory card reader have been updated.

IF you have concerns regarding memory then I would highly recommend you not use the Microsoft Memory Diagnostics and instead;
The problem looks like drivers and or memory but Titanic may be right and we may be chasing our tails if you have a heat problem. I would suggest using something like Core Temp or a program of your choosing to monitor your system temps.Download Memtest86+ from this location here. Burn the ISO to a CD and boot the computer from the CD from a cold boot after leaving it off for an hour or more.
Ideally let it run for at least 7 passes / 6-8 hours. If errors appear before that you can stop that particular test. Any time Memtest86+ reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad Mobo slot. Perform the test RAM sticks individually as well as all possible combinations. When you find a good one then test it in all slots. Post back with the results.
See this Guide to using Memtest 86+
Yesterday was, Today is, but ahh Tomorrow...mystery, suspense and a promise of hope.

There is a Ricoh registry patch driver listed (#28) on your referenced drivers list.
Is your model Sony Vaio VPCEB2S1E/BQ, or possibly one of the other combinations on the bottom of the page referenced?
When I install drivers, I will sometimes use the Advanced System Properties to keep Windows from doing hardware updates.
I will then uninstall the device and tell it to remove all drivers associated.
Then I will reboot, and try to load the new drivers.
If there is a possibility the Card Reader is causing the problem, can we not disable it or uninstall and disconnect?
Is the Reader a Firewire (1394) device?

Ok, I will clean this stuff, but as I noticed recently it's probably not the heat issue, since the downloaded CoreTemp shows me this at the exactly moment of freezing:
Sony Vaio VPCEB2S1E/BQ Windows 7 64 bits drivers | Sony Vaio Driver Those drivers are exactly the same as I got.
VPCZ1 Ricoh SD Card Reader update failing# This 2010 driver is a sdripci.dll , so not what we look for, right? I called the VAIO support and they made me download exactly the same 2009 drivers. I can't find another update for my system which is newer. Where is the newest Ricoh MC/MS driver which is for my comp?
(By the way, if I try install the drivers from the first link, I still get sometimes the message already posted in post #8. I have no idea why, since I got exatly the model, this page is made for?!)
Ok, I'll try out MSE to scan my computer and hope it finds something what shouldn't be there.
Hm I tried the m86 test off a USB stick, but wasn't able to boot my comp from it, which offered me then another scan. Now I got some CDs and I'll try burn'n'boot.
My model is exactly the one mentionned.
I uninstall the devices in the manger, then rename the drivers to .OLD and then scan for hardware changes so it finds me again the devices and I give them the updates, which sometimes doesn't work (see above).
I have no idea how the CardReader could be involved since the only thing running is the game I play. Nothing in the Memory Card, nothing in the Memory Stick except the wireless transmittor of my mouse. But it always worked fine? Could it be my mouse?? :O
Sorry I have no idea what a Firewire is, and I didn't understand the stuff google showed me to this keyword.
