Unhappy Freeze for 2-5min // sometimes BSOD

    Hey guys

    Well, I have a really
annoying problem with my computer. It's a laptop, a Sony Vaio.
    Here is the some SysInfo:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1,
    64 bit

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz, Intel64
    Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 2
    Processor Count: 4

    RAM: 3950
    Mb

Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, 1024 Mb

    Hard
    Drives: C: Total - 465962 MB, Free - 309892 MB;

    Motherboard: Sony
    Corporation, VAIO

    Antivirus: Avira

    Now to the issue.
I had this for a long time, improving my patience more and more. But now I have
no patience left since it became worse.
    Sometimes, everything freezes
randomly for 2-5 minutes. Then I can't move the mouse, i can't do anything, no
PrintScreen, nothing. I have to wait. -> The Screen freezes. And if I were
listening to music, or were playing a game, the sound freezes too, that means it
will keep repeating the last ~1 second of sound that was playing before the
freeze. (If he was singing "Hello" it will go "He-He-He-He" for 5mins, kind of
annoying, because I even can't turn it off or make it quieter). Afterwards there
are 2 possibilities. The comp will recover and will rejoin the internet (youtube
must be refreshed for further streaming), or it will crash and give me a
    bluescreen.
Sometimes after recovering it gives a small Popup which says that the "graphic driver
stopped working and has been recovered". In the last time he rarely gives me
this. Mostly he just recovers and rejoins the internet. The annoying thing is
that I loose my score in the game because I have to rejoin. In the last 2 days, it freezes every minute while playing, so I had to quit.

This issue happens sort of randomly. It occurs mainly when I play a game, or when I
have lots of YouTube vids streaming or opening. But it can occur just on
the normal desktop, though this is rare. Now I have suffered for a long time
from this ****, and now I'm seeking for help . After I've put
down all the graphic options in the game to the minimum (It's TF2), it became
better for a day, but then worse again.

Umm earlier when I got the "driver has stopped
working"-message more often, I looked it up in the Internet, and there were
quite a lot of people suffering from it, but no solution.

I would be very happy if you guys could help me. (I do not understand a lot in computers)

    And sorry for my english
    ______

It is a graphic error and a BSOD error, because both happen, so I posted it hereFiles.zip. Attached are some information files (minidumps/bluescreenview analyse/screenshots)

    cheers.

Re: Freeze for 2-5min // sometimes BSOD

First, you might want to check for latest Intel drivers. You have a problem with iaStor.sys, and that's Intel. You also have a problem with risdsne64.sys which is Ricoh PCIe SD/MMC Driver, and finally ntoskrnl.exe - that's Windows.

I may sound wiser than I am, but never mind. I'm not a pro.

It could be as simple a thing as that you have several security / antivirus programs running, and they collide. It's not that rare, especially with games, as games contain a zillion files, oftentimes unknown for the "security department".

    What I would do is:

    1. Clean unnecessary files, with e.g. CCleaner, CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
    2. Check / clean registry, with e.g. Free Window Registry Repair: a windows registry repair freeware. REMEMBER TO GO TO OPTIONS AND MAKE IT HAVE CREATE A RESTORATION POINT
    3. Reboot
    4. Defrag with e.g. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adefragpro.html
    5. Check for new Intel / Ricoh drivers on Internet. Install them.
    6. Reboot
    7. Try it out --- if it works, fine.

    If not:
    8. Unplug your Internet connection wire, turn all security programs off, and try if the games work.
    9. If they work, choose the security program you want, turn it on, try games... etc. From here on it's step-by-step.

    Hope you get it running.

Re: Freeze for 2-5min // sometimes BSOD

Ok, I cleaned up the registry, thank you for the tool, and I ran the Cleanup tool. The laptop is already defragged.
Now it took me 2h to find some drivers for my laptop, because the automatic check&update tool doesn't work on my laptop, and the support didn't know my model name, since it is a european one. I finally updated my AMD driver, but I have no idea if it is de newest one. Where can I check this?
    Attachment 20072

Later on I found a page with all the drivers for my model: Sony Vaio VPCEB2S1E/BQ Windows 7 64 bits drivers | Sony Vaio Driver Looks great, but I am obviously unexpierienced in driver stuff. So which do I have to download and how do I install them?
I got number 20. Do I need 30,31,34,35,36 ? I think the 35 is the risdsne64.sys? How do I install this stuff? Is it a newer version? Because on the Ricoh homepage there are only PDF's with some measurements/blueprints of chips etc. PC Interface / Electronic Devices | Ricoh Global

    Thank you in advance.

Does the Event Viewer give any clues as to what might be happening? If you can find an error or warning that seems to be consistent, it might point out some process or problem.

You might also check the link, since you seem to have the SFEP.sys driver from 2007. I see this is a separate download from your linked site, but I cannot tell what date it shows.

    1. Check with Saltgrass. Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer. Click the different options, and you'll probably get a lot of red stuff... I have a new build, by pros, haven't had any problems but... I have a million reds. NOT that easy.

    2. Since you have a legitimate laptop, you're entitled to global support / warranty. By international law and practice you may contact any representative anywhere --- ok, it may not be that easy... but it's there. Sometimes big butts need to be kicked.

Re: Freeze for 2-5min // sometimes BSOD

The registrycleaning helped I think. I had 2000 errors there. Though, the freeze still occurs. Until now, it came rarer than before the cleaning of the registry. While playing it came less, but when I turned on Skype, it kept freezing every 5min again. I am no expert, but a 2.3Ghz and 4GB RAM should be enought to run a game on lowest detail settings and lead a Skype-call?

The Event viewer doesn't give me much useful information, since there are too many informations. I will continue testing out, and probably I will have enough errors to see what happens before freezing (if the event viewer is the correct tool for this).

The main point still is how to install those drivers? I only manage to download them, and have no idea how to install them

Yes, I could send it in, and I probably will, if I can't fix it with some help . But I'm not sure if the supportguys know what is wrong, and they still can say that it is somehow my fault, and not fix it :S.

Looks like you may have a driver issue with:
    risdsne64.sys 6/30/2009
There is an update for that driver to 1/14/2010 on the page you linked to earlier #35. here Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities – Memory Card Reader Writer Driver SD
If you grab that and unzip it there will be three files in the resultant folder risdsne64.cat risdsne64.sys and risdsnpe.inf
Use this method to manually install the driver
    Driver Install - Manual Method

    1. Download the driver and extract it to a folder.
    2. Open the Device Manager.
    3. Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device.
    4. Choose Update Driver Software.
    5. Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
    6. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
    7. Select Have disk...
    8. Select Browse..
    9. Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
    10. Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.
    11. After it has installed, GoTo C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Locate the driver you've just updated, right click it and check the dates under its properties

    Good Luck

Yes, i think it would help to update this Ricoh driver, since this risdsne64.sys caused problems for other people too. But I am not able to update this driver, since following your install method I get following error message: Click image for larger version.

After calling support and asking them, they told me to download from their homepage (where I have been before). And after downloading it there, the same error appeared.

    Thanks in advance.

Then you either didn't get the correct version (64 bit) or else you've selected incorrectly in device manager, the hardware you wish to update.
Do a search for it, risdsne64.sys, should be in
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
but may be elsewhere as well.
rename it wherever you find it from risdsne64.sys to risdsne64.OLD
That should break it and will likely result in your memory card reader not working, but it can help in two ways. In should prevent that device from showing up in any further Blue Screens and it should help you zero in on which device it is specifically (possibly hidden).

Ok, I updated the SEPF driver, and renamed the Ricoh MS to . OLD.
I still have this problem :'(... I have absolutly no idea when it occurs. I downloaded and played another game recently, and I couldnt finish a round, because after max. 20min it crashed. Later on it kept on crashing after 5min, later after 2min. I thought it could be smth with the RAM, but windows memory check told me after 11h of scan that everything was ok. And while gaming I only use 1.5/4GB.
I have a picture of the CPU in the taskmanager while freezing. I don't know if the CPU is really at 0% or if it is just because the system froze and didn't receive any information about the CPU. Click image for larger version.

(I opened lots of programs and skype to get a freeze, since skype loves to give me freezes, to look what happen to the memory and CPU)

Could it be a virus annoying me to death here? :I

I do not get any bluescreens in the last time, but it keeps on freezing. And the event manager doesn't notice anything special before freezing. heeeeelp :'(
