Keep getting bad_pool_caller at random times in numerous internet based applications

    Keep getting bad_pool_caller at random times in numerous internet based applications

    This has been going on for a few months now and I have tried a number of things. At first I thought it just seemed to happen randomly when I used the internet that I would open a new page and just get an immediate blue screen with the message "BAD_POOL_CALLER".


    However, after some observation I have determined the most frequent triggers are:

    Any page that has a map application, like Google maps or Mapquest

    Itunes Music Store

    Bittorrent


    However, it does not happen 100% of the time on these and has happened on other, seemingly random pages. Windows update tells me all my drivers are up to date. Device manager, on the other hand tells me that one of my graphics cards has a driver error but the other one is fine (even though they both use the same driver? They're ATI Mobility Radeons 3870 X2 that are crossfired). I'm not sure what to make of this. I have been running CCleaner to try and fix my registry (this seems to temporarily reduce the frequency of the problem, but it always comes back...sometimes in an hour, sometimes in a week).



    The symptoms of the problem seem more to me like this would be related to a networking driver than a video one, though.

    Hello and welcome to the forums.
    First make sure your machine is configured properly to facilitate the collection of .dmp files.
    Go to Start and type in sysdm.cpl and press Enter
    Click on the Advanced tab
    Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
    Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked
    Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box
    Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump << where your .dmp files can be found later
    Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

    Do your best to accumulate the data required.
    Run the SF Diagnostic tool (download and right click the executable and choose run as administrator)
    Download and run CPUz. Use the Windows snipping tool to gather images from all tabs including all slots populated with memory under the SPD tab.
    Likewise RAMMon. Export the html report, put everything into a desktop folder that you've created for this purpose, zip it up and attach it to your next post (right click it and choose send to, compressed (zipped) folder.
