major fps drops that dident occur previously

I originally had to send in my laptop to get the hard drive replaced as it was failing
when it came back i had to re-install windows.
after re-installing I restored from my back up,
the back up was the entire c drive
any way when i try to play any game i can hits as low as 2 fps
this does not happen if im using and external monitor

steps done to try to fix it
1 chance resolutions (one of microsoft suggestions )
    2 re-install graphics driver
3 re-install sound driver(a suggestion that was on another forum)

don't post responses that are just saying you have the same problem, only potential fixes please. there are far 2 many forum posts where its just spamming the same problem with different computers

My question would be, did the problem occur prior to restoring your backup?

What if there is no solution? The only one being that you have to re-install it all, on a clear basis? That's my opinion, and I think you're wasting your time trying to find the perfect answer. By now, you would have had it all installed. Fresh and clean. And certainly getting more than 2fps.

    No offense.
