    IPv4 & IPv6 no internet connection in Windows 7

I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv6 2155 notebook about a month ago. i am a college student and i live on campus i normally connect to the campus internet by plugging in my ethernet cord. It's been working fine for the past month until yesterday it started going real slow then it completely stopped working. It says that im connected but it says no internet access. It shows up as IPv4 No internet connection and IPv6 no internet connection. My brother has a laptop and he connects the same way as i do and his is working just fine. I've tried googling the problems and troubleshooting them but it still doesn't seem to work. Someone please help me!!! Thanks....I did the ipconfig /all in command prompt and this is what it shows up

Try rebooting your laptop into safe mode with networking, by tapping the F8 key as the computer is booting, you should see a boot menu displayed, use the arrow keys to select safemode with networking. Let us know if the internet connection problem persists.
Yesterday was, Today is, but ahh Tomorrow...mystery, suspense and a promise of hope.

Sorry it took me a minute to reply, I was in class. I restarted my computer in safe mode and it still says the same thing about my connection. For the Ipv4 it says no internet access and for IPv6 it says no network access. I went to the computer lab and connected off the wireless just fine so i decided to unhook an ethernet plug from one of the lab computers and stick it in mine and disconnect from the wireless and the internet said the same as it did in my room about no internet access. I tried disabling the drivers and re-enabling but nothing worked....

I am not a network person, but the Network and sharing center may give you a clue. If you open it, what type of network are you using, private or public, and do you see any red Xs on the connections. If you do try right clicking and run troubleshooter.

Have you changed any firewall or anti-virus programs lately? Has the school modified there addresses and do the ones you show agree with your buddy's?

it's a public network. i live on a college campus so it's pretty much accessible for anyone. the red x shows up in between the network bench icon and the internet globe when i did run the troubleshooter it says that my computer is configured properly and that the device (or Resource) is not reponding

If you can connect via wireless try uninstalling the hardwired Ethernet device, letting Windows re-find it and install drivers. Then run update driver for that device to see if a newer one is available. Then try plugging in the cable and see if it connects.

Please try, if you haven't already disabling IPv6 in the properties of both your network adapters and see if that helps at all, reboot, open a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns then type ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew let us know what happens

The only thing else I might mention is that private and public networks are treated differently by some firewalls. I suppose you have always had it set as a public network, but I wonder if setting it to private might help.

If it stays public, check for settings that might effect that type of network, but as I said, I am not a network person.
