All browsers dont work, font problem....

I don't even know where to start. Or how to search for this one.


I am using Vista Home Premium.


Everything boots up 100% fine, navigation through files & folders - perfect. The computer is not slow. The only program is going into Internet Explorer, getting out on the web.


When I open Internet Explorer, I get this:

That little line is a cursor flashing. When I type something, the cursor moves as I am typing, as shown in this next screen shot:

I tried doing a system restore, and no matter what restore point I chose, It wont restore. But in the next screen shot, see how the "font" in the very top?

I reset IE to defaults, changed color schemes, changed themes, and even tried a different browser (Google chrome).


Now, google chrome worked - but those fonts & odd characters? It happens in Google Chrome. I can't read anything because of it.

I ran virus scanners, malware & spyware checks. (Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, and SuperAntiMalware).

I then installed Firefox. And I can't see what I am typing in the address bar.

Tried in safe mode, and same problem.


What is the problem???

There is something VERY wrong with your font cache or some other very important font components in your computer.

You can try the solutions listed at major font problems or font corruption - Microsoft Answers. According to Google, it would appear that there are many other potential solutions to this solution, you can see a list of them at https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sclien...w=1280&bih=699.

Yeah, that's what I think - its a font problem. No browsers work properly. Everything else is 100% fine. Although, that solution didn't work. That sfc /scannow thing. I rebooted after running that, and problem still persists. There are no additional fonts showing that I can "install". Ugh.

I really don't want to reformat. Any other ideas?

Try removing/uninstalling IE, then re-install it.

Problem solved on another forum. It was a FONT issue. Just installed fonts from my Windows 7 computer.
